I am a builderI am a builder.

I build the surroundings in which I live. I build objects I hope will enrich the environment of others.

I am a problem solver. I see a space and in my mind begin to construct an element to complete the area. I find a new material or a known material in a different form and know there will be a time when I will work with that item. If there is no fit in a current project - then it must be remembered because it will be the solution in a future construction.

Early in my career I worked with stone exclusively. To expose interior color and design hidden within the rugged outer surface of a stone will always remain both an adventure and a challenge. My spirit is calmed with each process of filing and sanding and finishing.

Originally metal in a work served only as a base for exhibition of the stone. Over time  metal – stainless steel and/or aluminum and now bronze - has increased in importance. Now metal is often the most important part of a work. The large outdoor sculptures of the past few years are constructed exclusively of metal.

Opportunity drives my work - a new material, new exhibition or commission. The creative part of my mind lives no differently than when I was a child. Only the material and cost have changed.
